According to No Child Left Behind (NCLB), students from low-income families who remain in Title 1 schools that are in the second year of Needs Improvement status are eligible to receive supplemental educational services. Supplemental educational services may include tutoring or remedial classes that are offered by the school or another agency approved by the Georgia Department of Education. School districts must provide annual notice to parents of eligible students of the availability of services, the identity of the approved providers, a brief description of the services, qualifications, and demonstrated effectiveness of each provider. How do parents know if their child is eligible for supplemental
educational services?
